Iridology, Tongue Analysis, and Other Health Assessment Tools

Aired on: August 4, 2023

Episode Description

There are many different aspects and modalities involved in healing. These each have their own form of assessment. For example, acupuncture has been used with success for centuries. James Reston shed light on acupuncture when he went to China and had surgery without aesthesia. In acupuncture , there is what is called the homunculus. This is a representation of the body found in a particular part of the body. For example, there are homunculi in the ear as used in auricular acupuncture, in the hands as used in Korean acupuncture, the scalp as used in Japanese acupuncture. We all have heard of reflexology where different areas are referred to different parts of the body. The eyes appear to have similar connections. Iridology is the study of the iris which is the colored part of the eye. The iris tells the genetics and the health history of the body. Sclerology is the study of the sclera, the white part of the eye. The sclera changes quickly and indicates what is going on in the body presently. Have these methods had success? Are there research studies? How does this work? Why does it work? This podcast highlights information on the iris and the tongue that the listener can use to assess his current state of health.

Book:  People with eyes like these

There are many different aspects and modalities involved in healing. These each have their own form of assessment. For example, acupuncture has been used with success for centuries. James Reston shed light on acupuncture when he went to China and had surgery without aesthesia. In acupuncture, there is what is called the homunculus.

His path

  • He studied computer science, and in Japan discovered a book on iridology
  • Health is more than the absence of disease

Goal

  • Not only to have good health, but to have great health
  • Iris and assessment tools give insight concerning nurture points (points that need nurturing
  • Whether one develops the potentials shown in the iris depends on how one eats, drinks, thinks and loves

Recommendations

  • Follow recommends following recommended constitutional diet 80 % of time
  • 15 % eat not so good like lasagna
  • 5  % naughty time for example, cake and cappuccino

Iridology

  • Is not diagnostic; is an assessment tool
    • Gives information on where might need to go
  • Looking at the colours and structures within the iris (The round coloured part of the eye)
  • This reflects what is inherited from last few generations
  • The iris remains stable over time
    • In biometrics, can use iris as identification
  • Tells about predispositions and gives the tools to get to optimal health
  • Compiled from 1000’s of years of making eye charts
    • Head is at the top
    • Heart is at 3 o’clock on the left iris
    • Kidneys are always at the bottom
  • There are some published articles on using iridology to detect diabetes
  • Colourette (looks like a flower) is circle around the pupil (the small dark circle through which we see in the center of the eye
    • Every organ has a reflex area of the iris
      • When there is a square flower around the pupil, it impacts on the pancreas
      • The pancreas is an organ that responds to love and being appreciated
      • Thinner colourette in gut area
        • Have less food more often
  • Eye colour
    • Blue eyes
      • Hazel and green eyes are variations of the blue eye
      • Most of blue eyes are “Lymphatic”
      • Most of the nurture points have to do with lymphatic system
      • May have had, ear, nose, throat issues, childhood ear infections thymus problems, arthritic problems, anything to do with lymphatic system
      • Recommended diet decrease foods that create mucus
        • Avoid gluten, dairy, white flour products, sugar
        • More fruits, vegetables, things in season, fresh things
      • Singing and trampoline work helps blue eyed people
    • Brown eyes
      • Primary nurture point is circulation
      • Can become more sluggish have problems with constipation or varicose veins issues
      • Need to move, exercise, and to move inside the body
      • Diet
        • Eat more fiber, eat nutrient rich, living foods,
          • E.g. in smoothie put coconut water, spinach, berries, honey
      • Brown in the middle tend to become more fermented
    • Mixed
      • can look brown with patches of blue
      • Primary focus point is the liver
      • Diet
        • Avoid things that overtax the liver coffee, alcohol, fats, rich sweets
    • Whether you can tolerate any food depends on colourette, circle around pupil
  • Then he looks for three nurture (predisposition) points
    • Break in the fibers, a pigment ( a little colour), opening in fiber
    • Flowers
      • Opening
  • Can tell how people will learn
    • Flower type – lots of openings in iris
      • gets overwhelmed with too much information
    • Jewel type (lots of pigments in eyes
      • Will want all that information
  • Can tell about personality and how to treat them

Example

  • A person with blue eyes (kidney type) with nurture points in the gut, skin, her lymphatics
  • White dots around edge of iris (ring of harmony) don’t like conflict
    • Make sure look after look after self first
  • Another example
    • His nurture points, gut, kidney and
      • lungs exercise, yoga, tai chi for deep breathing
      • kidneys. Water
      • Gut diet

Sclerology (study of the white part of the eye)

  • Study of the white part of the eye
  • Each area corresponds to an organ
  • Here we can see changes
    • Yellow indicates issues with the liver (as it does with allopathic medicine as well)
  • Past guests to Occupy Health have reported that one can diagnose what is going on in the brain by what is going on in the eye

OTHER ASSESSMENT TOOLS

  • Can look at fingers, tongue, face

Tongue

  • dry tongue. Dehydration especially in the morning
    • mouth breathing or dehydrated
    • if tongue is dry, drink more water
  • Tongue map
    • Tip. Heart area
    • Further back are the is lungs
    • The liver is on the sides
    • Lines or colours on side of tongue are liver signs
    • If mixed eyes
  • Tongue coatings
    • If the coating is at back is where bowels and kidneys
      • Ask questions about kidney and bowel health
    • White coating often has to do with candida
      • He will ask about candida or sugar levels
    • Yellow tongue coating often has to do with liver
  • He recommends against tongue scraping
    • No health benefits from tongue scraping
    • Tongue is reflection of what is happening in gut, stomach, intestines, liver

In an examination, he

  • First looks at the colour which is their constitution
  • Looks at the three nurture points
  • If he sees mixed eyes and liver signs on the tongue,
    • he suggests lemon juice in morning,
    • can add turmeric, liver stimulant
    • lemon juice, apple cider vinegar and turmeric good for in morning great for liver
      • wake up call for body
      • clean out
    • baking soda good way to get less acidic
    • Liver works a lot between 1 and 3 am

How acidic are you?

  • 7 is normal
  • Below 7 is acidic
  • Measure in first morning urine pH
  • Most illnesses thrive in acidic environment
    • Or get arthritis, gout
  • Optimal 6.5 – 6.8
    • A little acidity is good to digest proteins
  • For acidic people, he recommends celery juice, and cucumber juice as alkalizers
    • At least ½ cup celery juice
    • juicer
    • Can add apple, carrots
    • Won’t get as much from eating celery
  • Baking soda helps with acidity
  • Urine pH changes throughout out the day
    • More acidic after a heavily acidic meal such as a hamburger

Test bowel transient time

  • How long does it take for food to get from mouth to feces
  • If too short, nutrients don’t absorb
  • If too long, toxins develop

Great family health

  • Having confidence to keep self and family healthy
