His journey
- He was trained as a conventional physician with three years of internal medicine training and atwo year fellowship in allergies, immunology and infectious diseases
- He saw critically young people dying from AIDs
- One patient had a life threatening anaphylaxis reaction to an allergy shot
- The same night he read about sublingual allergy treatment so he met with this doctor and started studying this. (this material had previously bee supressed for ten years)
- This sublingual therapy was safe and effective
- He learned about the importance of the microbiome
- Healthy people have a diverse microbiome
- When the microbiome becomes homogenous, health problems developA
- The intestinal lining is one cell thick and is protected by mucus
- Cell thickness to prevent materials from directly entering the blood stream
- When the gut lining is irritated,
Candida
- His recent book is Conquering Candida.
- There is no text for candida
- Antibiotics reduce the beneficial bacteria in the body
- Candida and fungi are the most resistant organisms
- Candida patients present similarly to patients with gluten sensitivity.
- 95 % of such patients have gluten sensitivity
- Stages of candida overgrowth which induces inflammation
- Initial stage GI symptoms such as irritable bowel symptoms
- Stage 2. Some women have candida vaginitis because thcandida travel dot the vagina from the gut (a leaky gut let the candida out)
- Sinuses affected
- Treated with antifungals , vitamins and sublingual drops
- Stage three.
- When candida gets into the brain, candida converts carbohydrates into is converted to alcohol and aldehyde resulting in brain fog and poor concentration
- stage 4. Chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia
- there are many causes of chronic fatigue such as viruses, endocrine irregularities
- Sarah Myhill’s approach
- First vitamin C to treat the upper fermenting tut (SIBO)
- Take temperatures
- If the temperature is low and steady, consider thyroid
- If the temperature is low and varies consider adrenals
- Then she approaches detox
Treating candida
- To rebalance microbiome, needcombination of antifungal medications, vitamins, (IV vitamins help a lot because their guts can’t absorb vitamins they need\iin thirty to sixy days should see some improvement; in 90 days should be home free
- His approach to make people more immune stabile
- He listens to the patient and takes a detailed history
- Life style approaches
- Diet – he tries to follow 80 % of the time
- Good fiber such as from vegetables
- Low glycemic content
- Ground flax seed. High in omega three, great for the microbiome
- avoid toxins, manage stress, get good sleep
- healthy spices sprinkled on food such as ginger, curcumin, basil
- these are good for the gut and immune system
- herbs
- he thinks some clinicians are giving too many supplements
- he does not like when an herb is put into a capsule
- if too much of some supplements are put into a capsule, it can thin the blood which can be dangerous
- such supplements csn become like pharmaceuticals
- he if the gut is not healthy, it can’t process these vitamins
- if the gut can process these vitamins, they go through the lvier
- for example liquid spray vitamin D and vitamin K2
- he thinks some clinicians are giving too many supplements
- for deeper candida, work with a physician
- Diet – he tries to follow 80 % of the time
Antacids
- are supposed to be given for a short time period
- many people with reflux have low stomach acid
- Low stomach acid interferes with pancreatic enzymes needed to digest food, bile and keeping the upper flap of the stomach closed
- He weans patients off antacids with H2 blockers and sodium bicarbonate as stopping antacids abruptly can cause acid reflux.
- This cand result in undigested proteins into the blood stream which can lead to autoimmune diseases
- (our immune system may attack these foreign looking undigested proteins . These antibodies can get confused and attack bodily organs through molecular mimicry.
Food Sensitivities
- In the 1970s few children had peanut allergies
- He feels this increase in food allergies is due to toxins and antibiotics.
- A study showed that children who received antibiotics in the first year of their lives, they are more prone to food allergies.
- In Israel, it was observed that there were fewer food allergies in children. The Israeli mothers gave their children “bomba” which included peanut paste
- Giving children small doses of tree nuts in the first 4 to 6 months may reduce the risk of future peanut allergies
- Now a large proportion (30 %)of children have food allergies
- a person with a peanut allergy can react from someone eating a peanut in another part of the room
- When activated, the mast cells respond rapidly releasing histamine
- For chemically sensitive patients who react to fragrances, there is a spray nasal chrome which can help stabilize the mast cells don’t release the histamines
- Anti histamines stabilize after the histamines were released
- Quercetin and luteolin (company algenot ? ) help
- Food Allergy Testing
- Blood testing. Quest labs, LabcorpUnicap
- He feels IgE should be measured as IgG can be generated by eating many foods
- Diet, supplements
Sublingual immune therapy
- To desensitize from extreme food allergies such as a peanut allergy.
- Uses natural substances starting with low doses
- People take these drops at home
- He advises that people do thisincollaboration with their doctor
